Arlet Gomez, a contemporary painter from Cuba, knew from a very young age that art was her path, so with the support of her family she focused on studying art at all levels that her country offered. She first graduated from a painting academy, and then received a Degree in Fine Arts, [2009] from ISA, University of Arts in Cuba. Now a professional artist in Palm Beach, Florida, she is compelled by the need to express her desires for coexistence, freedom, longing for roots, and enlightenment of the human essence.

"My artistic work is a search that attempts to investigate the diverse connections that interact in the human being, both physically and spiritually. My objective is to create a visible parallel of these connections recognizing that we are a reflection of the invisible, emotions, feelings, and what we have learned. It is precisely the sum of all this that is our essence as human beings. Throughout my life, the scenes I experienced in my childhood are recurrent in my unconscious, and sometimes I have wanted to go back and resume conversations, looks, and behaviors. This is why in my artwork, childhood is a platform to reveal these ideas of continuous exploration that involve our essence and our link with nature. My work is an ode to those moments of connection with beings and snapshots of time. In my work, the meaning of inclusion is celebrated, and each of my figurations strives to reflect this desire. My art aims to bring light and reflection to those who observe it, to function as a mirror of past experiences and lived emotions; and art that transcends from a contemplative to a reflective experience."

July Online Group Show "Summer of ´24"

In the realm of art, the summer season has always been a wellspring of inspiration, captivating artists from all mediums and styles. Its vivid colors, textures, and a myriad of emotions evoke a sense of joy and wonder and as the days stretch lazily and the golden sun illuminates our surroundings, we find ourselves immersed in leisurely moments with friends and family, adventurous travels, vibrant festivals, bustling markets and the many culinary delights of this season. In our July group show ”Summer of ´24” we encourage our artists to visually share their summer plans with us and our audience. Let us celebrate the warmth, vibrancy, and creativity that summer brings.

We welcome artworks from all mediums of visual art, except AI-created art, and video/film.

★ Digital entries must be received by June 28th, 2024 before 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time.

★ Notification of acceptance will be sent by email by June 30th.

★ The show will premiere on July 1st and end on July 31st.

AWARDS:

All Artists participating in the online group show will be featured on our Website and Virtual Gallery platform. All artists will be awarded an HMVC Gallery New York certificate of participation. A video clip of "Summer of ´24” featuring all participating artists’ artworks will be screened on a jumbotron billboard in New York City’s famous Times Square later in July.

We are delighted to announce that we will be giving cash prizes to two talented artists!

Best of show winner: $150

Second place winner: $100

Third place winner: Online Solo Show

★ The winners of Best of Show and Second Place need to have a working PayPal account to receive their prize money. If the winner of the cash prize fails to provide HMVC Gallery New York with a working PayPal account, the winner will be forfeited and HMVC will be entitled to select another winner. The prize will be sent to the winner within 14 days of responding to HMVC.

★ The Third Place winner will have their own online Solo Show at HMVC Gallery New York and the show will run for a month. The Solo Show winner will also receive a HMVC Gallery New York solo certificate recognizing their achievement.

The Submission fee is $25 for the 1st image and $10 for additional images and it is non-refundable and does not guarantee acceptance.
