"The Sweet life" October group show & John Jaster solo show

Greetings artists and friends of the gallery!

Our October Online Group Art Show "The Sweet Life" is here!

Ah, La Dolce Vita, Joie de Vivre, Life is Sweet!

These are the phrases we use to convey how joyful our lives are.

Artists have always enjoyed creating artworks that portray their ideal ways of living or things that bring them joy. They wish to capture the essence of enjoying life’s sweet moments from savoring a decadent dessert to falling in love. Not only do artists like to show people things that bring them joy, but many of the HMVC Gallery alumni artists like to use art as a source of happiness and enjoyment.

In our October group show ”The Sweet Life” 68 artists celebrate all the things that make their lives sweet and joyful.

Solo Show by John Jaster

We are happy to announce that John Jaster, our Solo Show winner from "Influence" premiers his show today and the show runs from October 1 to 31.

You can view the show on our Website and in our Virtual Gallery.

John was born in Columbus Ohio, graduated from Ohio State, and lived in Southern California for 30 years. Although John learned to draw and paint as a young boy, his degrees are in the computer science field. It wasn't until 2010 when his wife bought him a large easel and encouraged him to start painting again, that he began to take his art career seriously. Since then John has been selected in over 200 gallery shows and juried contests, including the National Oil & Acrylic Painter's Society 2014 Best in America show. John's Carousel Horse #1 was featured in the June 2014 issue of the Artist's Magazine Competition Spotlight, and he was featured in the 'Artists to Watch' section of the Southwest Art March 2016 edition. John's acrylic paintings have been included in AcrylicWorks Best of Acrylic Painting volumes 1 through 10 and his paintings have been voted FAV15% in Bold Brush on a number of occasions.

November Online Group Show "Vibrant Visions"!

As November is one of the darkest months of the year, we wish to bring some color back into our lives by showcasing artworks from artists who dare to dream in color.

40,000 years ago, there were five color pigments in the world: Red, Yellow, Brown, Black, and White.

Think of the cave paintings on the island of Sulawesi or in the Cave of Altamira.

At one point in time Blue pigment, made from Lapis Lazuli, was more precious than gold and it was specifically reserved for religious artworks.

Given that Pink is created by mixing red and white, for a long time Baby Pink was designated especially for young males as this color was seen as too ”strong” for young women.

As we moved on to the 20th Century, we invented Neon colors, which are just very bright versions of the primary and secondary colors.

For many artists color is one of the most important elements of their art practice so this time in our November group show we invite artists to submit their unique interpretations of color, vibrant subject matters, and lively energy.

We welcome artworks from all mediums of visual art, except AI-created art, and video/film.

★ Digital entries must be received by October 28th, 2023 before 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time.

★ Notification of acceptance will be sent by email by October 31st.

★ The show will premiere on November 1st and end on November 30th.
