"Flower Power!" Group Show & Gary Aagaard solo show

Greetings artists and friends of the gallery!

Our April Online Group Art Show "Flower Power!" goes live today!

While ”Flower Power” was a slogan used by Hippies opposing the Vietnam War in the 1960s and 70's America, we use it to celebrate Flowers & Art in our April online group art show. Throughout history, humans have used flowers to communicate their emotions and to commemorate various occasions. Flowers have a lot of historical significance across the globe and we are delighted to welcome the arrival of Spring with this group show featuring 108 artists.

Solo Show by Gary Aagaard

We are happy to announce that Gary Aagaard, our 1st Solo Show winner from "Women" premiers his Show today, and the show runs between April 1 - 15th.

You can view the show on our Website and in our Virtual Gallery.

"As a fledgling illustrator in Brooklyn during the 1980s, I took on any project thrown my way. I refer to that time as my “snack or famine days”. Eventually, I zeroed in on editorial work and soon scored assignments at publications like The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, NY Newsday, and The Village Voice (primarily covers).

Since the early 2000s, I’ve concentrated on gallery work with an editorial, satirical slant..... essentially larger oil paintings with conceptual content reminiscent of my illustration years. Lampooning politicians, pundits, or spiritual leaders who specialize in alternative facts, manufactured outrage, false equivalents, convoluted conspiracy theories and tunnel-visioned tribalism (whew) is my form of protest and provides a satisfying outlet. Of course, visually addressing the daily insanity of politics, punditry or social upheaval requires an occasional break, which is when I paint relatively non-confrontational pieces."

You can enjoy more of Gary's art here:

Congratulations Gary and please enjoy his show everyone!

May Online Group Show!

Abstract painting has been hailed as a celebration of the activity of the painting itself.

Pioneered by Hilma af Klint and Vassily Kandinsky and later perfected by American artists, boldness and experimentation with color are used to describe Abstract art as it is free from the rules of traditional form-focused art practices.

Abstract art’s key elements are the symbolic function of color, the rhythm of forms, and their independence from a subject, resulting in the artist having complete autonomy to express their emotions and showcase their artistic abilities without restrictions.

In the viewer Abstract art is meant to evoke emotions and reactions, so we can come to the conclusion that abstract art is ultimately incredibly flexible in its most basic form.

This time in our April online group art show we celebrate Abstract art. We welcome Abstract artworks from all mediums of visual art, except AI-created art and video/film.

★ Digital entries must be received by April 27th, 2023 before 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time.

★ Notification of acceptance will be sent by email by April 30th.

★ The show will premiere on May 1st and end on May 31st.
