Cara Roberts is a London-based Portrait Artist and Digital Designer with skills in both hand-painted and digital portraiture. Cara graduated from UAL Central Saint Martins in 2021 with a Foundation Diploma in Fine Art and a BA Degree in Graphic Communication Design. The tuition she received allows her to fuse experience in traditional painting with that in modern graphic design resulting in photorealistic 2D digital portraiture using ‘ProCreate’ software. Cara is currently working for a Digital Marketing Agency as a Digital Designer based in The Shard, London. She has been marketing her artwork through an Art Agency based in Manhattan, NYC. Cara has been featured as an artist in two Art Magazines, one based in Japan and another in Germany, and over the past two years, Cara's work has been selected for display at numerous national and international exhibitions.

"I particularly enjoy capturing the hidden strata of the human face, both physical and emotional. My work experience in medical illustration coupled with tuition in life drawing has fuelled my interest in the human form. Instruction on facial anatomy has provided me with an appreciation of how structures that lie beneath the skin manifest externally. I like to make full use of posture, expression, scale, negative space, and semiotics to allow faces to direct narratives. As I see it, a fair world is one in which all people - irrespective of race, social class, or disability - can have a positive self-concept."

May Online Group Show!

Abstract painting has been hailed as a celebration of the activity of the painting itself.

Pioneered by Hilma af Klint and Vassily Kandinsky and later perfected by American artists, boldness and experimentation with color are used to describe Abstract art as it is free from the rules of traditional form-focused art practices.

Abstract art’s key elements are the symbolic function of color, the rhythm of forms, and their independence from a subject, resulting in the artist having complete autonomy to express their emotions and showcase their artistic abilities without restrictions.

In the viewer Abstract art is meant to evoke emotions and reactions, so we can come to the conclusion that abstract art is ultimately incredibly flexible in its most basic form.

This time in our April online group art show we celebrate Abstract art. We welcome Abstract artworks from all mediums of visual art, except AI-created art and video/film.

★ Digital entries must be received by April 27th, 2023 before 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time.

★ The show will premiere on May 1st and end on May 31st.
