Solo Show by Mark Shevetone

We are happy to announce that Mark Shevetone, our Solo Show winner from "Vibrant Visions" premiers his show today and the show runs from December 1 to 31st.

You can view the show on our Website.

Born in Beacon NY, Mark is an artist based in Las Vegas, who is known for his impressionist paintings that capture people, places, and the events in his life. Timeless and tasteful, or modern and messy, images in his life demand to be examined. Mark often uses acrylic paint to create highly textured, three-dimensional works on canvas. A graduate of San Jose State’s art program, Mark’s first influence was his great uncle, Alfred Pizzarelli, an artist from New York City in the 1950s-60s. When admiring his uncle’s wonderful paintings, Mark would daydream about the people he painted, and interpret their expressions and colorful surroundings. Mark’s paintings are meant to burst with energy, life, and texture, beckoning the viewer to engage with the same wonderment he experienced as a child. You can find Mark’s artwork across Las Vegas in restaurants, wineries, and local galleries. When Mark’s not working, he’s spending time with his wife, Alicia, and their English bulldog, Belma.

"So many things I think about when I look far away. Things I know, things I wonder, things I'd like to say. After 20 wonderful years of painting, I decided that it was a perfect time to explore different landscapes. After months of researching different regions, I settled on Nara Park Japan. I found the history and landscapes to be intoxicating. My artwork is a direct reflection of the different seasons of the park. I like to work in acrylics on canvas to enhance all the emotions and colors that Nara has to offer. I use bright or muted colors to communicate the magic and essence of the ever-changing seasons. Even as I branch out to other mediums or subject matters, I’m always tempted to come back to Nara Park.

If a viewer stops for just a moment to reflect on a piece I have created and feels emotion from the thousands of colors captured on canvas that reflect the different seasons, then I have succeeded in my work."

January Online Group Show "Unveiling The Layers"!

For our first group show of 2024, we’ve chosen to explore the intriguing notion of ‘layers’ as the focal point and how they can be interpreted and showcased through different art forms.

Throughout art history, layers have been more than just a visual element; they embody depth, complexity, and hidden narratives waiting to be uncovered. Whether it be a physical layer (different textures or materials), an emotional layer (depicting different emotional states or experiences), a cultural or historical layer (exploring different traditions, narratives, or customs), or even a societal layer (examining different ideologies, social constructs, or political systems). “Unveiling the Layers” is a show where artists can peel back the layers and showcase the depth and complexity within their artworks.

We welcome artworks from all mediums of visual art, except AI-created art, and video/film.

★ Digital entries must be received by December 28th, 2023 before 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time.

★ Notification of acceptance will be sent by email by December 31st.

★ The show will premiere on January 1st and end on January 31st.

Elevate Your Artist Bio & Statement With

HMVC’s Gold Standard

We are very happy to announce that we have implemented a new service called "Artist's Writing Aid."

We are well aware of how artists struggle with writing Artist Bios and Statements because we review them every month. Many artists do not realize that their Artist Bio and Statement are a gateway to the art world and unfortunately many end up missing out on good opportunities because of poor writing.

So why not let us help you tell your story in a way that resonates, captivates, and elevates your artistic identity.

With our "Artist's Writing Aid", we provide you with a white glove mentor service by:

★ Uncover Your Unique Voice: We’ll conduct interviews and research to understand your artistic journey, inspirations, and aspirations.

★ Craft a Compelling Narrative: We will transform your experiences and thoughts into engaging narratives that captivate your audience.

★ Tailor for Your Audience: We consider your target audience—whether it’s galleries, collectors, or the general public—ensuring your artist bio and statement resonate with them.

★ Edit and Refine: We provide multiple rounds of revisions to ensure your bio and statement are perfect in every way.

Together, we’ll take your artistry to new heights!

HMVC Gallery New York is now offering you the opportunity to have your own solo show on our ArtPlacer virtual platform for a month. Because the artists in our community are at various stages in their careers, we have created three different plans for you to choose from Plan Manor, Plan Palace, and Plan Castle.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in doing a Solo Show with us.

Visit our ongoing Virtual Solo Shows.

This service is by request only so if you would like to know more you can contact us via the contact form or email us at [email protected]

Kind Regards,

HMVC Gallery New York
